REBLOGGING FOR THE MAGICAL NEGRO SECTION

The twitter comments are fucking disgusting! 0_0

okay cool lets throw some things out here

Tony Mendez - Not only is Ben Affleck part Irish like Tony Mendez (Mind you, I still acknowledge Tony Mendez to be a Latino individual) he has a similar complexion and look to Tony Mendez. And if he looks like Tony Mendez, and he sounds like Tony Mendez (Who doesn’t have a prominent Latin accent), I don’t see why he can’t act as Tony Mendez. Especially when it’s not ‘some director’ casting Ben Affleck, but ~The Director (Ben Affleck) casting themselves.

Mariane Pearl - she’s half Dutch, which makes her primarily white. Sure, it would be more authentic to cast a half Dutch, half Afro-Chinese-Cuban actress the caliber of Angelina Jolie (Who was wearing makeup which very decently emulated Mariane’s skin tone, by the way) for the role, but, I don’t who that actress would be, at that caliber, in Hollywood.

Maria Belon - Okay, that’s one actor (Naomi Watts) on the list who isn’t at least partially the same race as their inspiration — they still have similar complexion, the character is still Spanish (Right? I haven’t seen the movie), and she’s still acting.

Green Lantern - I don’t…. John Stewart is Black, Hal Jordan isn’t. There are 8 Green Lanterns created by DC (who are the ones who created John Stewart)—
#1, #2, #3, and #5 are all White, #6 is a woman, #7 is an alien, and #8 is a Muslim Arab-American. #2, preceding John Stewart, who is #4, is Hal Jordan, who is White, and is probably the most popular green lantern of all time, leaving John Stewart in 2nd place in prominence.

The Magical Negro trope has happened for white leads, similar magical janitors (and the like) have been White for White leads, and even if you still (fairly enough) don’t like the ratio, the next White spirit guide for a black lead won’t be the very, very first.

And the comments on Rue are TOTALLY racist. But that’s not Production’s mistake. They did everything BUT whitewash Rue.

I don’t say any of this in the name of White Supremacy or Conservative burying of race history (I’m Black, and a Liberal Progressive) — But there’s too much real racism in America that desperately needs attention, to cry wolf on Social Injustice when it’s not actually happening. Also, falsely crying wolf is just annoying.

Idris Elba as Bruce Wayne/Batman
James Earl Jones as Alfred Pennyworth
Lucy Liu as Rachel Dawes
Denzel Washington as James Gordon

John Cho as Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow
Faran Tahir as Ra’s al Ghul
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Harvey Dent
Michelle Rodriguez as Renee Montoya*
Gabrielle Union as Selina Kyle
Dev Patel as John Blake
Javier Bardem as Bane
Zoe Saldana as Miranda Tate

*Even though she isn’t in the trilogy, I decided to include Renee Montoya anyway. I felt it wouldn’t have hurt Nolan’s series to include a few more ladies from the comics.
