Elysium is like a swift punch in the gut, it goes by so fast you can’t grasp whats really going. The lack of profitable dialouge doesn’t help the film much either. Also as I watched bald Matt Damon, i couldn’t help but think that if the director did choose to go with Eminem as the lead role, how it would’ve turned out. Maybe worse or maybe a little more memorable. One thing is sure, this movie looks exactly like District 9. I get that it comes from the same director and when we watch their movies they will have similarities, but Elysium looks like it took place during District 9. Same lighting, setting, music. The overall feel was very “copy and paste”. Tim Burton uses the same formula, so maybe after a few more films from Blomkamp, he’ll evolve out of his comfort zone and try some different settings.
Elysium is flawed, but there are some interesting moments, like the fight between Damon’s character and Copely’s was kind of cool to watch. I really wish Jodie Foster was utilized more but i think her character wasn’t really meant to have alot to do with the story, besides the trailers using her and making it seem like she would. but hey, that’s promotion for ya.
Watch Elysium when it comes on dvd or even better get it from redbox just incase you hate it and can’t keep up with the story.
While Disney’s previous film before Frozen, Brave, wasn’t as strong as some of their past films, it still had an amazing story and finally was about a mother and daughter relationship but overall didn’t have the charm that Tangled or Wreck it Ralph had. Frozen kind of falls in line with Brave, I appreciated the ending and applaud Disney for continually putting out great films, but the movie had some issues. Still great though.
The graphics and animation of Disney are always stellar and Frozen does NOT dissappoint. Just watch the scene where Elsa builds an entire castle out of ice, you’ll see what I mean. Perfect. But aside from the visuals, the vocals were amazing and on point. Hiring Idina Menzel was a great choice, but I didn’t think that her voice really fit her character but I’ll save that opinion for the bad. Her song “Let it Go” was spectacular and probably the only song I’ll download from the movie. The cast was also great. I did like the big climax as well, I thought it was done in a great way.
Now the story, was a tad fast paced in the beginning but I get it, there’s no need in spending 24 minutes in setting the introduction….but sometimes it helps. (IMHO) the snowman (voiced by Josh Gad) was a decent comic relief but got a little annoying.the scene where the king and queen are killed in an awful storm was done so quick and isn’t really referenced to later in the movie, that by the end of the movie the idea of their parents never even cross my mind again. Also I wish the movie would’ve delved more into how Elsa got her powers. The ending also caught me off guard mainly because I really thought Anna was going to have powers to reverse Elsa’s freezing but alls well that ends well.
The movie is well worth the price of admission and I give it two frozen thumbs up.
Overall I give it a B+
The Music; I really enjoyed how the music went with the setting of the film.
There’s a scene where the main character, Erin, kills one of the killers and there’s a flashing light where you only see still shots of them, I thought that scene looked really good.
The story was really great and had a nice plot twist, although it’s been done before, It went nicely with the story.
For once in a horror movie, there was a female lead, and it wasn’t terrible.
Just like the Evil Dead, some of the characters really got wounded but weren’t killed, and it reality you don’t just die instantly from a stab. So I thought that was great.
The movie had a pretty weak and not very good start, then they never go on to explain why the neighbors were killed off but I just guessed that it was so they wouldn’t get suspicious.
Some of the deaths were very comical and that element took me out of the movie.
Overall 3.9/5 stars
So I guess I’ll start with the good things I did enjoy about Oblivion. Of course, anything with Tom Cruise in it, I like to check out because aside from his wacky personal life, I rather like his action movies. Although, Oblivion didn’t really capture my attention from the trailers, I still wanted to give it a chance because I know of plenty of great movies that had bad trailers and other press events. (I.e. Pacific Rim!) But after watching Oblivion, I have to say I was little let down Tom. I’ll get to what I didn’t like next, but what I did like was the scenery of the post apocalyptic Earth. The foggy look really worked well on screen and the CG was visually amazing.
The Second thing that was ok was the small role played by Andrea Riseborough (Victoria), I think she showed really good acting skills, especially in the scene in the top left photo. Hopefully we’ll get to see her more things in the future.
Now to the things that weren’t my favorite. Overall, the story kind of fell flat and never really picked up. There aren’t many moments for me that had me on the edge of my seat or any nail biters, and..it was just boring! Clones? Really? its been done before. Good try Joseph Kosinkski, but the script wasn’t really all that moving nor memorable. Also Morgan Freeman is probably in the movie for about a total of 18 minutes, I really wanted to see more of his story over Tom Cruises character.
But don’t take my word for it. It will be on DVD pretty soon so check it out for 1.50 or whatever redbox is offering for it, but don’t pay 10.25.

Before the movie even premiered, Directors already stated that Fast and Furious 7 was coming out next year. Kind of jumping the gun? I mean what if no one likes it? what if it’s a completely utter bomb and makes little money. I had my doubts at first but now i say BRING. IT. ON. Next year couldnt come fast enough. Beyond fantastic movie, I will be paying to see it again and everyone who had doubts about this movie should stick it in their back pocket and GO SEE THIS MOVIE.
Before I start. I really enjoyed Iron Man 3 I didn’t love it and it wasn’t better than the Avengers but IM3 is just good ole’ mindless fun. But were it falls short is its many plot points that don’t really get any answers to. Also many unnecessary things that happens in the movie that just makes you wonder why in the world is this even in here. THEN the biggest plot twist in the movie turns out to be the reason why this just made me very upset and I almost hated it if it weren’t for the amazing plane and action scenes.
Although this wasn’t amazing, it is a step up from Iron Man 2 (which I actually liked) but I don’t feel that either 3 or 2 have topped Iron Man 1. Iron Man 1 was a really solid and refreshing movie to watch. It all flowed and IM3 just didn’t do it for me. Some parts of the movie just made me feel so lost. What really through me was the main villian. An actor playing as the Mandarin? Really??? After the greatness of the Avengers I can’t belive that this was thrown in our face.
A few good things I did like though, were Pepper Potts finally doing something than besides making that “I’m worried” look and the action scenes specifically the plane scene. In the last 20 minutes or so, Pepper drops into this pit of fire because Tony couldn’t save her and is assumed dead, but she emerges and demolishes the Mandarin. She didn’t look to bad fighting either, much better than Anne Hathaway as catwoman who looked stiffer than a board trying to fight.
My second favorite moment was when Tony has to save 11 or 13 (i forget) people falling from the plane and he can only carry four. Just the visuals were spectacular to watch and for those 7 odd minutes or so I was finally drawn back into this world. Only to have it shattered when it comes to find out that he actually wasn’t even in the suit. But still the scene was great to watch as he made a human chain in the sky. And the humor was dead on. I think they focused to much on that than a decent story.
Overall, if your looking for something on the level of the avengers storywise, your not looking for Iron Man 3. Wait until Thor 2 comes out and we’ll see. But IM3 was sort of a let down but I felt was neccessary film to make because we needed to see how Tony Stark lives on after the Avengers. But storyline wise, it’s all over the place and never really draws me in and keeps my full attention, only 65% of it. A real winner to me though was Pepper. I’m all for female heroism so she kind of kept me mildly interested and the visual effects as well. IM3 underwelms but is a great action movie.

When I first heard about this book being made into a movie, I knew it was destined to be another book turned movie that everyone would see and make it the new “cool” thing to quote from. And I was right. So after seeing everyone posting about it, quoting from it, I knew I didn’t want to see it or read it so I wouldn’t join the “movement.” But after going through my daily blogs to check I ran across a quote that peaked my interest and decided to finally download it, watched it, then watched it again. The story is really well put together. The actors were chosen accurately, although I’d like to see Emma Watson’s character played by someone else, I can’t quite put my finger on who but I just see someone with darker hair as her character. I think what really was the hook for me in this movie was some of the thoughts Logan Lerman’s character were similar to mine when I was a freshman. After watching this movie, this has just reassured my thoughts that Indie films are still one of the best types of movies.

*A few spoilers*
I just knew from the previews this was going to be good. But had doubts after it started with another action scene just like Quantum of Solace, which to me wasn’t all that bad but got horrible reviews. Twenty minutes after the big opening scene though it started to build more of a story and I was completely drawn in. Naomi Harris as Bond’s, so called “help”, was a great pick to play the part. At first I was a little worried that Javier Bardem was going to play some blonde haired villian, but was proven completely WRONG. Berenice Marlohe’s character was completely unnecessary to me. Judi Dench is always great at play M. By the end of the movie when their in Scottland, was the best scenery I’ve seen in a movie in a long time. Overall Skyfall is right in the category for best top 3 movies of the year. DEFINITE must see if your not planning to.

Series: The Mindy Project
If you were like me and saw the previews for this, you changed the channel everytime it came on because you thought it would be like everything else on TV. But I was looking through the new look of updated iOS 6 for Apple products and saw they had this show as a free download. So with nothing else to do on a thursday night I downloaded it. And I will inform you that I will be watching it every week. Completely unexpected funny. But then I thought it is the girl from the office and she is hilarious. So give the show a chance. You’ll like it. The only thing I don’t like from the pilot is her coworker (doctor to the right) don’t quite yet get their relationship. But then again it is only the pilot.
Seeing the previews for this just reminded me of movies that had already been made, an all star cast who in the end all somehow know each other, (New Years Eve, Valentine’s Day) and this movie was exactly like that. A little on the predictable side, but there are funny moments. It even gets a little sad at the end. But overall I think some better actors could have been chosen.
This movie was worth the waited. I’m glad that it actually met the hype that it build up. I’m glad that Christian Bale’s voice wasn’t as deep and “ventalated” as in was in the dark knight. Not sure why Bane’s voice was so cartoonish but it was good non-the-less. Anne Hathaway as Catwoman took the cake for me. I’m sure everyone can agree she’s still not “sexy” but a very very good actress. For me anyway this IS the best movie of the year.
This definately made my list as one of the best movies of 2011. From the storyline to the action. This film just continued to make the Fast & Furious franchise one of the most successful movie franchises there is. The movie takes place right were Fast & Furious left off. Dominic Toretto (Vin Disel) is being taken to prison but gets help escaping with his sister Mia Toretto(Jordana Brewster) and Brian O’ Connor (Paul Walker) which leads them to leave the country and head to South America. I won’t tell the whole story but by the end I just wanted to watch it all over again.
Just from the previews for this movie, I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to pay money to see it. But it was avaliable as a download on one of my daily sites so I downloaded it. Watched it. And I want to watch it again. It completely surprised me with the story line and characters. Will Smith looks entirely too old but you forget that by the end of the movie. Josh Brolin did a great job impersonating Tommy Lee Jones. I didn’t really see the point of Nicole Scherzinger in it, but she looked pretty good. For a movie with time travel in it; it was pretty good. The aliens looked gross as usual. But all in all I definately say check it out. Also the song Pitbull made for the movie is pretty catchy.
Out of all of the Oceans’ movies, Oceans 12 is probably my favorite one. From all of the scenery which is amazing, to the quick whitty humor of the entire cast and how they play together, 12 is the best one for me. I like Catherine Zeta Jones character and how she is involved in the story. Vincent Cassel (Black Swan) looked the part as the infamous Nightfox. The part with julia roberts at the museum is one of my favorites. The storyline was very very well thought out. Really good acting. If you haven’t seen this movie, inbox me and I will send you a link or just email you the entire movie.
